Story
In early spring 2016 they we're both at Josephine, a bar on the Liston in Corfu Town. Both out with a friend and this is where Bart saw Christina for the first time. She however, did not see Bart...
Bart planned on talking to Christina but decided to gather some courage first. And as happens often, life passes you by while you make plans. Christina had left. A few days passed while Bart kept thinking about the woman he saw and his missed opportunity. Online he found out that Christina wasn't living on Corfu at the time so the chances of him running into her again were slim. A message was sent and the connection was made.
To Bart's disappointment, Christina was dating someone at the time and when she mentioned that, the conversation quickly ended. 'In the days and weeks passing, we both kept thinking of each other which resulted in a 'Hey how are you' message from time to time. Each time this ended the same way, regardless of how nice these conversations were. After a while of on and off chatting, Bart decided that they at least should meet once before accepting that this was it. So on a spring Friday afternoon, Bart decided to get in the car, take the ferry to the mainland and drive to the city where Christina lived. He sent her a selfie showing he was there and accompanied it with a message saying ' I hope you won't make me wait too long '
'That night we met and spent the whole night just talking and laughing at the empty rooftop of a hotel. A bottle of wine and music playing from a phone.'
Over the next months Christina stopped dating and called Bart. As her break-up was fresh, they decided to give it a few weeks before meeting up in Thessaloniki at a certain time and location. For the first time they actually spent some time together. While Bart was on his way back to Corfu, Christina texted to say she still wasn't sure, thanked Bart for a nice weekend and good-bye!
Weeks went by and Bart had his 34th birthday. A small party was planned and a call came in from the Neolea office that flowers had been delivered. A whole lot of white roses with one red in the middle and a note saying : you're as special as one red rose among the white ones.. but no sender.
Thankfully Bart was able to figure out who had sent those flowers after calling the shop owner and having him check his security camera feed. That quickly turned just another birthday party into one the best ever...
About a month later, Christina moved in with Bart!
Tidbits
How did you first meet?
See Our Story!
Who made the first move? How?
Bart did, although he was too late to do it in person as Christina had left the bar. Bart sent a message ( he apologised for the impersonal way to contact her 😂 ) and that's how it started.
Who's going to take out the trash?
Clearly Bart.. who in turn does little to nothing on the laundry!
What was your most memorable date?
Our first date was planned by Bart but a surprise to Christina. He showed up out of the blue in Ioannina, a city on the Greek mainland and a night of talking and laughing on the rooftop of a hotel followed.
What's your favorite activity together?
Eating and travelling!
Where are you going for your honeymoon?
Although undecided yet, we're thinking of Bali!
What's the best meal you have eaten together?
Well we humbly believe our best meals are created at home however we have very fond memories of Borgo San Jacopo in Florence, Italy.
What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?
Every time we visit Italy.
We’re on the same page about
Wine!
A life goal of ours
Always feel free and continue believing that in life, anything is possible!
Teach us something about
Anything! We both love learning and discovering new things.
How did you propose?
Bart did, after running out of patience to find the right time he found the wrong one! While both hungover and affected by a Covid vaccine sitting by the pool. It made that day a whole lot better though! 🥂 14/8/2021

Q & A
For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our Q & A first!
Is there a gifts registry?
Your attendance alone is a gift to us but if you would like to spoil us even more, perhaps the following may help.
As a couple we love travelling, cooking, hiking in the outdoors and are huge wine lovers. Next to that we plan on going on a big honeymoon some time in the near future and are saving up to make that happen.
Whom should I contact with questions?
Lia Pagiataki will be our master of ceremony on the day. If you have any questions regarding the event, please contact her at +306944415448
Can I bring a date?
Please check your invite for your +1!
Are kids welcome?
Your little ones are welcome to attend our ceremony however we have not planned for any children's menu and drinks. The reception will be an adults only event.
What will the weather be like?
Historical data tells us temperatures on Corfu in June fluctuate from low 16.4 degrees Celsius and highs of 28.5 degrees Celsius. Daytime should be warm but not unpleasant. June typically doesn't have the warm summer nights yet so you may want to bring a jacket or α shawl.
Where should I park?
The Courti Estate will have space for about 20 cars, otherwise we recommend parking outside the estate where there typically is enough space.
What should I wear?
We like to see all of you dressed up for our special day. Summer chique would be perfect!
Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?
Both the ceremony, dinner and reception will be outdoors at different areas on the Courti grounds.
What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?
Calling all ladies! Do not wear stiletto heels. I repeat, do not wear stiletto heels. There are a bunch of grassy/dirt areas that you might have to walk in so wear chunky heels or sandals. Can't have any of you ruining nice shoes or breaking any ankles.
Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?
Yes! We would love for you to take photos and share them on our app Joy.
However, please refrain from taking photos and video during the ceremony.
Is there transportation being provided between reception and hotels?
Unfortunately we will not be able to provide transportation. Depending on your stay, we suggest renting a car or contacting local taxi services through your hotel/accomodation.
I have a question not answered here; how do I contact you?
The months and weeks up coming up to our wedding will be very busy for us. To keep things manageable we would prefer if you contact us via email. christina.bartjan@gmail.com
Can I drink from the tap in Corfu?
Unfortunately not. We recommend drinking bottled water.
